JK Rowling has written a post-epilogue Harry Potter article from the pen of Rita Skeeter. You can read it HERE if, like me, you long ago gave up on Pottermore. It doesn't tell us much we didn't already know.

Doctor Who series 8 scripts have been leaked (no spoilers in article). *sigh* These things give me this reaction: Please don't spoil people. And by 'people' I mean me. And by 'me' I mean I will be angry faced.

Oooh, by the by, I have watched all of Agents of SHIELD and now can no longer be spoiled! Diving into the fics and vids and extras and wonderful, but obviously the fervor has died down now, so if anyone has recs or links to things they loved please do share :)

At least in the UK you can now pre-order the Art of Level 7 Agents of SHIELD variants! For anyone who doesn't know what this is, a group of great artists did art that was expensive but is now on the covers of comics at much more affordable prices. For example on disposable heroes for £3.79 each. Variants available. (You have to search on disposable heroes for each issue.) The only one that I'm not in love with is the pinky maze.

> Free Comic Book Day on Saturday! We went to the travelling comic fayre and I got some bargains - the first GN of Y: The Last Man, the next two Walking Dead GNs, and a bunch of Image comics to try. (I am now collecting Revival; I blame @TricksyLiesmith.) We went to Travelling Man and watched window art happening. We went to Forbidden Planet, we went for food, and we went to watch Amazing Spider Man 2. When it opened with the gears inside the watch and the decisive tick me and @TricksyLiesmith gasped in realisation. This time we spotted all the time and clock references. Well done film! And it still hurts.

And there's no plot point reason for this. The fact that a girl shows up is apparently a big, end of days, everything will now change sign. Um, no, that is not what the introduction of a female character should be just because she's female without any plot reason at all. If any girls at all are part of these war games, then why is there only one? And what's with the solving everything surprise telepathy? Okay, I own the remaining two books in the trilogy as I got them as a set in The Works, so I'll see if they get better. On a day when I feel like wasting my time with them.

> Comics this week: Lazarus 8 (if you're a fan of dystopian stories and detailed worldbuilding and you're not reading this comic then you're seriously missing out), What If? Age of Ultron 4 (vaguely interesting thoughts on a superhero as a concept instead of an individual), Original Sin 0 (I haven't read Nova yet and I've never read much about the Watcher and I still found this raised a few feels), Guardians of the Galaxy 14 (YAY Captain Marvel to the rescue! Yay Groot! Uh, okay, future story), and Elektra 1 (the art in this is a thing of beauty, gorgeous colours and really dynamic. Just, I don't think this story is for me. This is the opposite problem to my not liking the art of She-Hulk *head desk*. I may try the next issue, for the gorgeous, gorgeous art).

On the fic front hurrah for card games by recessional (PG, no Winter Soldier spoilers) is Maria, Steve, Clint, and Natasha playing poker, which goes about as hilariously as you'd expect. Next New Message by fabrega (Teen and Up, definitely Winter Solider spoilers) is one of the most amusing where-was-Clint stories to happen post Cap 2. And in Breakfast for Dinner by thingswithings Teen and Up, nothing to do with Winter Soldier) Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel) joins the MCU Avengers in a ridiculous, amusing, wonderful story (which makes me wish once again for more ladies in everything) - today's title from this!

> Books Read: The Girl With All The Gifts (excellent dystopian future novel, the changes in viewpoints never distract from the story, and interesting thoughts on choices at the end of humanity as well know it), The Poison Eaters and Other Stories by Holly Black (an absorbing short story collection full of fairytales with sharp edges, including the short story that came before the novel The Coldest Girl in Coldtown so it was fun to see how the novel grew from that, and two stories set in the Tithe 'verse), and Fables Volume 1: Legends In Exile (this was okay, but not as good as all the hype made it out to be. I appreciate that it's the first volume at the start of a long ongoing series, so does it get better? Should I stick with it?)

Spoilery Iron Man 3 things that made me go OH and AWWW and HOW DID I NOT SEE THAT?! in no particular order: here, here, here, here, and the track from the credits (which I've downloaded and added to my avengers playlist, BECAUSE).

I'm up to my eyeballs and failed to get those Marvel Ladies icons done for halfamoon. (I have 120 icons so far. IT'S NOT ENOUGH.) I did make a marvel ladies thing here the other day though, because of sugar_fey and Deathless, lar_laughs and comments on Peggy having painted nails in a screenshot where she's shooting at someone, and anuna_81 and all our chats about lipstick at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp (original account and some thoughts on it, beware: what you would expect in an account of liberating a concentration camp), makeup, and feminity.

And here is a Valentine's message thing about loving yourself, because I love you all and think you should too:

Ready for halfamoon? It's a celebration of women in fandom that runs from Febrary 1st-14th and I've never yet managed to catch it live. This year I'm working on a batch of Marvel Ladies icons - ladies from the Marvel films, 100 icons so far and I've only covered three films. Um, oops? (I'm having fun. Discovered when iconing screencaps of Peggy in Captain America that when she's being badass with a gun she has red nail polish on, hadn't noticed that before.)

I did do a bunch of Ladies recs for International Woman's Day last year. I feel the urge to do another, either for halfamoon or International Woman's Day again. Because of fics like sugar_fey's Conversation Over Tea and frea_o's The Bechdel Test. And because 'Women Being Awesome' is a tag on AO3 and I love that.

Other ladies things I've spotted recently: there's a multifandom women comment ficathon and a heroinebigbang happening, and I recently read an interesting post from YA author Sarah Rees Brennan on ladies in writing. If that's a bit too rage inducing, try her Real Lady Sleuths post as well or instead - I love that one, and I went back and reread it. Not tempted? Allow me to share two snippets from that:

So I missed that Pottermore is now open to everyone. I was tempted before when the call went out for betas, but my work load is too big to properly play around on it. Now though not only does it seem like everyone online has joined but I have offline friends that have joined! So I've been a sheep and joined too ;) I'm JinxFloo28342 if anyone would like to add me (or wonders who is trying to add them) and I'm a Slytherin. I aimed for Hufflepuff, but I think I liked forests too much, heh. So far it reminds me a lot of JK's website with the same fun animation. I like the extra information, although I do wish we had gotten the encyclopedia.

I have been eagerly anticipating The Hobbit since The Return of the King and The Avengers since Iron Man. It's a big year for films (and books! but that's another post). I was carefully trying to avoid falling in love with anymore of them before they're released, because there's no way I'm going to be able to watch them all. That would be why although I loved The Hunger Games trilogy I was pretending the film didn't exist. Plus there's always the fact that films on the big screen just can't measure up to the film a book makes in your head. Then I saw this gorgeous fanvid which you should go and watch right now.

Of course then I was kind of sad, because, well, have you read The Hunger Games? So off I went in search of happy and to be fair I'll share that with you as well. I wrote a Torchwood/Firefly crossover for the Post-Christmas Blues fest at torchwood_fest in which long after the events of Miracle Day and some time after Serenity (the film) Jack hires the crew of Serenity to do a job for Torchwood Tweleve: Moments; Singular. It's an adult rating (for sexing, swearing, and people shooting at each other) so it had to be member-locked I'm afraid, but I'll be archiving it on here at the end of the fest if you don't have member access over there. There are lots of lovely crossovers happening and none of the others are a high enough rating to be locked yet, so take a look!

(I am not used to being the person with the high rating, especially considering compared to a lot of the stuff I read online what i've written is, well, tame. I don't know whether to feel proud or corupted lol.)

I haven't seen Thor or Captain America yet and I really need to because The Avengers is on the way! Having not seen all three I have still already started reading Avengers fanfic.

Ready, Fire, Aim by gyzym, along with the sequel Situation Normal: All Fucked Up are glorious stories with hilarity and touching moments and eventual Steve/Tony. The summary is There is no "I" in "Avenger". Steve and Tony don't get along at first, but things start to get better, especially after the Avengers end up moving into Tony's New York mansion. You Told The Drunks I Knew Karate by Settiai is a fun Doctor Who Amy and Rory vid of brilliance. And Dwell in thee by catminolte is an incredibly beautiful 'The Girl Who Waited' (Doctor Who) vid.

Why yes, I am listening to Florence and The Machine's Ceremonials, which is fantastic and I would turn cartwheels in honour of these recs. If I could actually do a cartwheel, which I can't, no, but I could do a forward roll if you like. Maybe.

HERE there is a possible TARDIS siting in Sherlock's 'Hound of the Baskervilles' which is possibly confirmed by Steven Moffat. Much amusement!

HERE is a very fun Doctor Who fanvid by lady_with_cats in which the Eleventh Doctor likes showing off. And kissing. Lots of both. And moves like Jagger. You cannot help but be cheered up.

HERE is a Star Trek XI fanvid. I can't remember if I've recommended it before or not, but if so it would deserve a second shout out. It deserves many shout outs! It's the whole crew being all kinds of amazing by jactrades.

HERE is an incredible fic called The Republic of Heaven by blind_author which is a Sherlock and His Dark Materials crossover in which Sherlock and John live in the London of Lyra's world long after the events of Philip Pullman's novels. It is a WIP, just to warn you, but the author seems good about updating and it's worth reading regardless. The summary is: Born to a witch and a human, people know Sherlock will be unusual from the start. John Watson, on the other hand, seems perfectly ordinary, except for his dæmon...
