This week the first issue of the new Black Widow comic was released! There's a discussion post with spoilers over at
be_compromised here, but basically I LOVE the art and I have high hopes for the story.
I also found out that there's a new run of Serenity comics happening! Serenity: Leaves on the Wind seems to be a continauation of events after the film and the other tie-in comics we've had so far. First issue is out at the end of January and, oh my heart, the cover art looks amazing.
So today's icon post is brought to you by a love of comics art, and a healthy dose of 'oh, I forgot I had all these Agents of SHIELD and other random ones in my icon folder'.
PS. As a general rule, when I make icons from comics art I get the art from the artist's own websites, promotional images, or other stuff posted online. Sometimes I manage to scan stuff, but that means a trip to someone that actually has a scanner. So if anyone wants icons of specific comic art, just a heads up that if you scan it yourself and send me the image or link me to it I would be more than happy to play with the pretties :)
01-03: The Hobbit (Desolation of Smaug promotional images)
14-15: Agents of SHIELD (mostly promotional images; no spoilers)
16: Hawkeye (art by David Aja
17: Clint & Natasha (art by Phil Noto)
18-23: art for forthcoming issues of Black Widow (art by Phil Noto)
24-36: cover art for Serenity: Leaves On The Wind (24 & 25 art Jeanty variant cover, 26-26 Dos Santos regular covers; spoiler if you haven't read Float Out)

My headcanon was always that Zoe was pregnant at the end.
Ugh, I can't wait to read this...which means I have to find one...
Is it the same publisher as Angel & Faith, and everything else?
I can usually find those at Books-a-Million but elsewhere...not so much...
There are so many new exciting comics coming out!
Black Widow, Loki: Agent of Asgard, the Kate in LA issue of Hawkeye, the Deadpool where he steals Lola and now this!
*squeals*
spoiler for float out in comment
It's by Dark House. They're usually the ones who publish the Whedonverse stuff I believe. Depending on where in the world you are, any chance you can order them online? Luckily I have found comics stores that I can get to, but if there's a particular variant that I'm after or something I fear might be sold out of before I get there, I order online, usually disposable heroes or forbidden planet. House of heroes and Reeds comics are good for back issues. And then eBay and eBid can be helpful.
BLACK WIDOW! I'm not keen on the Agents of Asgard art to be honest, but it looks amusing, and I have a friend who's a HUGE Loki fan, so I may need to read it just to aid geeking out and enabling *grins*. KATE! Not read any Deadpool, which is the Lola stealing one???

Leaves on the Wind is the one that is a direct continuation of Serenity, is it not? I think I must purchase this comic.

Yep, although it definitely takes into account Float Out in between, although I doubt that's going to be required reading. I bought Float Out for a fantastic cover, but the story was not the best. Better Days, Those Left Behind, and A Shepherd's Tale are worth a read if you can get them. And there have been a few shorts here and there. MORE FIREFLY in the same month as Black Widow, Hawkeye, Saga...? It's Christmas in January!

Any chance of America Chavez icons, perchance? I have an intense need. :P

I will add this to the icon to-do list! If you've seen any particular images, link me. Otherwise I'm either googling or waiting possibly a longish while until I have scanner access/time.

Nothing in particular springs to mind other than from the last few pages of YA15. And maybe some of when she has her hair up. Or when she's giving the "what the fuck" look to Loki. But anything really. :P

Speaking of, Laura really wants to go to this event in York on Feb 16th. Part of the Viking festival, and the book is a standalone. We haven't booked anything yet, but we're thinking of making a trip of it, coming up early Sunday and maybe staying over night, coming back Monday afternoon/evening if we can get time off work. And by 'we' I mean Laura, me, possibily two or three others from our geek days, and someone Laura knows from online is showing up for the event. So yeah, if so, want to join us at any point? I know you like the Norse myths too :) and more lending could happen. Not booked anything yet, like I said, but if you're interested I'll tag you in anything that happens. (And Laura and her online friend are DEFINITELY going, if only for that afternoon and that event!)

And yeah! That sounds fun! And it would be nice to see you and Laura again. I'd have to get someone to cover my shift on Sunday though, so I'd need concrete happenings for that. I'd also be working Monday afternoon but that's fine if you're leaving around then. And York is nice, there's interesting stuff to do, even if I've done most of it by now (apart from the museum, but museums are only fun for other museum nerds so... :P) Hey. I can show you the armoury shop. It's awesome. :P
